What OBD protocols does the software support?

OBD Auto Doctor supports all protocols that the OBD-II standard has been defined to work with.

The protocols are:

  • SAE J1850 PWM
  • SAE J1850 VPW
  • ISO 9141-2
  • ISO 14230-4 KWP
  • ISO 15765-4 CAN

By default, OBD Auto Doctor utilizes the ELM chip capabilities and automatically finds a working protocol. It means that you don’t have to worry about the protocol that your car uses.

However, the dongle can fail to detect the protocol automatically in some cases. Therefore, you can also specify the protocol manually in the connectivity settings.
