A few days ago we launched the updated OBD Auto Doctor software. This time our main focus was in calculated performance parameters such as Engine Torque, Engine Horsepower and Turbo Boost Pressure.
You can now measure the performance of your car by monitoring these new sensors in real time. Read further to get insight into the details.
Engine Power or Horsepower
Engine power (or horsepower) can be estimated quite well using vehicle speed and its change over very short period of time. The total weight of the vehicle is also needed for valid results.
OBD Auto Doctor measures the engine power at the wheels. This is not the same as at the flywheel. Therefore, if the vehicle speed doesn’t change, the power will show zero. The horsepower will be greater than zero only when the vehicle is accelerating.
The software will also take power loss due to drag into consideration when calculating the power. An average drag coefficient and vehicle frontal area are used.
You can set the vehicle weight in the app settings. To get the most accurate weight, drive your car to a weightbridge. You could also estimate the total weight by using manufacturer defined weight added with the passenger weight, fuel weight plus any extra weight included in the vehile.
Torque is calculated from the engine power and RPM. With these two pieces of information, the torque can be estimated quite accurately. Torque is measured at the wheels just like the engine power.
Since torque is using engine power for the calculation, the vehicle weight is a factor in the calculation. Remember to set the correct weight!
Boost pressure value yields from the intake manifold absolute pressure. Barometric pressure is also taken into consideration. Now, the vehicle is required to support MAP (manifold absolute pressure) in order for the boost pressure to appear as supported. Barometric pressure is optional. The default pressure value at sea level is used unless the car provides support for the actual barometric pressure.
Negative pressure values represent vacuum. Positive values are boosted by a turbocharger or supercharger.
Among the new calculated performance parameters, we also added more.
The software has now support for all Mode $06 scaling IDs. The latest OBD2 standard version added 12 new identifiers. OBD Auto Doctor implements now all the new IDs in addition to the old ones.

OBD2 Trouble Codes or Diagnostic Trouble Codes are defined by SAE (Society of Automobile Engineers). SAE is the organization that specifies the OBD2 standards. These include the one that defines all the generic Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Car manufacturers follow these definitions when they assign DTCs for detected errors.
J2012 is the document that defines the OBD2 Trouble Codes. The standard hasn’t been updated for a while but few months ago it got a new revision. The newest revision contained a bunch of new DTCs. These DTCs take new technology such as hybrid vehicles into better consideration, for example.
OBD Auto Doctor contains now all the possible generic OBD2 Trouble Codes that exists. We added total of 3899 new DTCs to the software.
The software contains total of 18193 Trouble Codes. The latest PC & Mac software as well as the Android and iOS apps have all these codes included.

Rest of the codes are manufacturer specific trouble codes
Multiple Freeze Frames
The latest desktop software version added support for multiple Freeze Frames too. Typically, only one freeze frame is saved. But with newer cars, it’s possible to store multiple freeze frames; one for each trouble code. The software will now read all available frames.
This is a great addition if the vehicle has more than one issue present. You get details from each issue, not only the first one.
Our OBD car app for Android has been a great success this far. Over 600,000 installations and over 1,100 five star reviews prove this success. As the Android platform continues to improve itself, we keep improving the app as well. Just before Christmas we released new and improved OBD Auto Doctor car app.
The previous app version used side navigation as the navigation pattern. This was the recommended way to provide navigation in Android for a long time. It had some problems, though. Some users didn’t learn how to use the navigation and didn’t understand it’s usage. For the new version we redesigned the app navigation. We replaced the old navigation with much simpler and intuitive tab bar navigation. It’s now also one of the official navigation paradigms for Android. It makes the navigation faster because all the main sections are visible at the bottom of the screen.
It wasn’t always easy to find the menu option for resetting the check engine light. Different devices had different ways of opening the menus. Some devices had a physical button and some had an user interface element for opening the menu. Now, the reset button is always visible in the Trouble Codes view. You can’t miss it anymore.
As one of the new features, we replaced the old analog dashboard with with a digital one. The digital dashboard or so called status view of the app is now the starting view. With this view you can track the sensors you want in real-time and with large and easy to read fonts. The speed and RPM are the only fixed sensors in the screen. You can customise all other sensors. Long press any “sensor box” to replace a sensor with any sensor that your car supports.
On-Board Diagnostic Monitors (OBD Mode $06)
Another new feature that we added was the support for On-Board Diagnostic Monitors. These monitors are also know as the OBD mode 06. On-Board Diagnostic Monitors offer professional level diagnostic capabilities. These monitors can give detailed information about misfire counts, for example. They can also give reasons for readiness monitor failures or hints for emerging problems. Not all cars support this mode but luckily most cars do.
OBD Auto Doctor has users all over the world. We’ve analysed the most popular countries and the need for app localisation. As a result, we translated the app user interface to French, German, Russian and Finnish.

Our OBD diagnostic software for macOS, Windows and Linux got new version update yesterday. Along other changes, the version 3.1 includes important improvements for Bluetooth connectivity.
OBD Auto Doctor mobile apps have included support for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) dongles already. Now, we are happy to provide the support on all supported platforms. This includes support on Windows, Mac OS X / macOS and Linux. The selected BLE dongles work now with OBD Auto Doctor regardless the computer or phone you use.
BLE support on Windows
Windows 8 is the first Windows version to support Bluetooth LE. This means that you need to have Windows 8 or newer to take advantage of the new feature.
Before OBD Auto Doctor can connect to the BLE dongle, you need to pair the dongle in the system settings. In Windows 10, you can find Bluetooth settings by ‘Settings’ -> ‘Devices’ -> ‘Bluetooth’. Make sure you have paired the dongle successfully before launching OBD Auto Doctor. OBD Auto Doctor will now find the device and take care of the rest.
BLE support on Mac OS X
OBD Auto Doctor can use Bluetooth LE on all supported OS X versions. Remember to check that your Mac has Bluetooth 4.0 hardware included. Macs started to have the hardware around 2011-2012. No pairing or other manual actions are required outside of the software to use these dongles.
BLE support on Linux
Bluez is the library in Linux that provides Bluetooth support. You need to have version of Bluez that has the support included. Check your distribution for more details.
Scanning BLE devices needs special rights. You can use superuser or root for that. Or you can give the application the needed permissions just once:
After running the previous command, you can run obdautodoctor as normal user. Notice that some Linux distros require that you need to be part of the dialout group to able to use Bluetooth. To add an user to the group, issue:
sudo adduser username dialout
If you install the software using the .deb package, these actions will be taken care of automatically for you.
Our OBD app for iPhone has been a great success this far. We’ve got some improvement ideas from you guys about making it even better. We listened to your suggestions and made the app stand out even more.

We are also happy to announce that the app supports now Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) OBD adapters. These adapters are also known as Bluetooth Smart or Bluetooth 4.0 adapters. We started with support for the best BLE adapter in the market, Kiwi 3. Bluetooth adapters are much more convenient than WiFi adapters. This is because you don’t need to hassle with the phone WiFi connection anymore. Support for Bluetooth 4.x adapters is a great addition to our app. We’ll be adding support for more BLE adapters once they enter the market. Check the OBD adapters page for up-to-date information.

Our car diagnostic software for PC and Mac was updated about a month ago. The latest OBD Auto Doctor is now labeled as version 3. It took few weeks to publish this blog post. But it’s never too late, right? Let’s go through the change log for the update.
Improved User Interface
The new version has redesigned and improved user interface. This is of course the main visible change for you. We clarified the views with more white space and trimmed down the titles. We also reorganized the views under new categories. The new categories are summary, trouble codes, diagnostics, monitoring and extras. The categories have new flat style icons too. These changes make it easier for you to find the stuff you are looking for. We also added help texts to the views. They provide you helpful details about the information that the views provide. Just move your mouse over the small white question mark to get the hints.
On-board System, Test or Component activation
The software has now support for OBD2 mode 8. The mode 8 is the on-board system, test or component activation service. This service allows bi-directional communication to start or perform specific tests. This is different from the most OBD2 services because they just read information from the car. In that sense, this service or mode is a rather powerful tool.
The current version of the OBD2 standard defines only two tests. OBD Auto Doctor supports these both:
Evaporative system leak test
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration
It’s expected that more tests are added to the standard in the upcoming updates.
Sensor Graph Grid
The graph grid is the newest addition to the monitoring tools. You can now track up to four different sensors side by side with the Sensor Graph Grid. Each sensor has separate graph with it’s own scale. This makes it easier to interpret the data in some cases.
We did a lot of other smaller changes for the software too. The following list highlights the most important ones.
Increased number of the simultaneous sensors in the graph. You can now update up to 6 sensors at the same time. We also improved the automatic scaling of the graph scales to make it easier for you to interpret the values.
Added support for the Readiness Monitor status for the current drive cycle. This is in addition to the monitor status since the trouble codes have been cleared and the MIL has been reset.
Verified support for the new Windows 10. We also tested the OS X El Capitan preview version for possible compatibility issues.
Improved internationalization with all the strings updated by native speakers. Because of high maintenance work we had to remove support for some languages with fewer users.
Improved functionality with some clone adapters. The problematic adapters reporting version 2.1 will work now too. We do recommend though that you use a high quality genuine ELM327 adapter. Some clone adapters have serious issues delivering data from the car.
OBD Auto Doctor for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux was previously updated to version 2.0. The new version contains a lot improvements. Some of them are visible to you but there are several improvements done under the hood, too. The latest version has now better support for the new Windows 8.1 and Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite operating systems.
One of the additions to the software was the data export capabilities. You will be now able to export Diagnostic Trouble Codes and Freeze Frame data to a text file. You can then easily share the file, or archive it for documenting the history of your car.
Moreover, you can export the sensor live data to a *.csv file. The csv file can be opened with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice Calc. You can record a whole drive cycle and review the results afterward to detect some abnormalities with the sensors of your car. You can even draw a custom graph with these external tools from the data you collected with OBD Auto Doctor.
We did an example drive with 2014 Audi A3 1.4 TFSI and recorded the car data during it. The granularity of the data is rather coarse because we recorded 28 sensors simultaneously. Dropping the amount of different sensors will improve the granularity significantly. That’s because it leaves more time to update the interesting sensors more frequently.

Other new features
In addition to the export functions, the latest version added support for 16 new OBD2 parameters. It’s also now possible to graph more than one sensor or parameter simultaneously with the oscilloscope. Last, OBD Auto Doctor user interface was translated to Polish.

The latest update of OBD Auto Doctor for Android added support for OBD WiFi adapters. So now the Android app supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi adapters. Although not as easy to setup as Bluetooth adapters, Wi-Fi adapters are good choice for those who consider switching from/to iPhone. The price of the OBD Wi-Fi adapters has considerable lowered in the last couple of years, which has brought the adapters to the awareness of new consumers.
Wi-Fi vs Bluetooth OBD adapters
One of the benefits of Wi-Fi adapter is that it allows very fast data rates. It means that your sensors will update faster in the app screen, for example. Another advantage is broad support on different platforms. The wifi adapters are supported in every platform so you can use them with OBD Auto Doctor iPhone and Windows Phone versions and with the desktop/laptop version as well.
One of the drawbacks compared to Bluetooth adapters is that Wi-Fi adapters are not as easy to setup. First, you need to connect to the network created by the adapter. Only after that you can use the app to connect to the adapter and car. The procedure might seem a bit tricky at first but it will get easier after you have done it a couple of times. To help and guide you through the first time, we made a short Quick start guide for WiFi adapters to get you started with the app and adapter.
OBD Auto Doctor OBD2 app for iPhone is now available from the Apple app store!
The app works now perfectly even with the new iOS 8 released just few weeks ago. The very first version of the app had some layout issues with iOS 8 but now all those issues are gone. The app works fine with iOS 7 too but older versions are not supported.
The iPhone version of the app requires separate ELM based OBD adapter using Wi-Fi connectivity. Due to technical limitations of the platform Bluetooth adapters can’t be supported. To get started with the app and adapter setup, please check the Quick Start Guide for iPhone. It will guide you through the first time usage.
The basic app is available for free so that you can evaluate it and make sure it works with your car and OBD-II adapter. The free app has some limitations though. You can unleash all the features and upgrade to the Pro version using in-app purchase. In-app purchasing is convenient way to unlock the Pro features without need to re-install separate app version.
Upgrading to the Pro
Getting the Pro version can be done inside the app using in-app purchase. It’s one time purchase that covers all future feature updates and additions to the app. The purchase is tied to your Apple account. You can get the Pro version back even if you upgrade your phone or uninstall the app by accident. Just install the free app from the app store and it will automatically detect that you already own the Pro version. The only thing you have to do is use the same Apple account in your phone.
Unfortunately Apple doesn’t provide us means to issue refunds of the purchase. Therefore, please try the free version first to make sure there are no compatibility issues with your adapter or car. The issues are very rare but if the free version doesn’t work, the Pro version won’t make the situation any better.
In the previous app update for Android (version 2.2) and Windows Phone (version 2.0) we added support for multiple control units. The most common and usually the only control unit is the Engine Control Module. However, newer cars are starting to have more than the ECU responding to OBD2 requests. Most cars with automatic transmission have Transmission Control Module (TCM) available for example. There can be also other controllers depending on the manufacturer and model.
Our desktop software has had the support for multiple control units for ages but with the last update we brought the support to the mobile versions too. As with all mobile version updates, this update is completely free for all of our existing customers using the app in these platforms.
In Android, the selection of control unit was added as dropdown spinner in the action bar. The screenshot illustrates a vehicle with three control units available. The selection can be made by opening the spinner by tapping the title and then selecting the appropriate control unit. The selected control unit is visible in every view where it matters and where it can be changed. After changing the control unit, the view data is refreshed from the car and information is shown for the selected controller.
In Windows Phone, the control unit selection was added to the navigation page. The controller can be changed using the list picker on top of the navigation page titled “browse”. To change the control unit, you need to come back to the browse page and do the change you wanted. The screenshot is from the same car as the Android screenshot. The car has three control units and the first one is selected. The acronym of the selected control unit is indicated on top of the view in the title.
Now it’s good time to update your app to the newest version. Remember that as with all the other features, your car needs to support multiple control units for them to show up in the app. If you have only one ECU listed, then your car has only one ECU responding to the OBD2 messages. An update for OBD Auto Doctor WP8 version was just published few hours ago. The update adds dashboard with some neat gauges to the app. On top of the screen there are speed and RPM meters. At the bottom there are four gauges displaying various information. The gauges may vary a little bit depending on what sensors your car supports. The update is ready for download from Windows Phone Store.
With the free version, only the speed, RPM and Engine Coolant Temperature are displayed. If you want access to all of the gauges, then upgrade to the Pro version.
In addition to the gauges and meters, the update fixes a disconnect issue with some adapters where the adapter closes the connection after certain idle period.

We are pleased to announce the release of OBD Auto Doctor for Mac OS X. Mac support has been requested by many of you and therefore we are especially happy about this release. It delights us to fulfill your wishes!
OBD Auto Doctor is the only true multi platform OBD diagnostic software available in the market. It’s available for basically for every operating system there is; Windows, Mac and Linux. Users who have purchased a desktop license earlier are able to use the same license key with the Mac version. This is true advantage for many of our customers who have PCs and Macs in their households.
The Mac version supports all the same adapters that our Windows and Linux versions also support. These include wireless Bluetooth and WiFi adapters, USB and serial cable adapters.
OBD Auto Doctor is now available for download from our own site. The software requires at least OS X 10.7 (Lion) to operate correctly. It has been tested to work on the new 10.9 Mavericks too.

The completely redesigned and improved Android version of OBD Auto Doctor OBD-II app is now available for everyone! The user interface of the app is updated to support modern Android look. The design follows native Android navigation patterns and should be easy to use for every Android user.
We also improved the app under the hood. Performance was tuned and memory consumption decreased. In addition, few connection issues were resolved. Some of the fixed issues were related to specific phone models, and others to some clone adapters. All in all, we are very satisfied with the app now.

What’s new in version 1.2 of the OBD-II diagnostic app?
One of the new features is the possibility to send the diagnostic information via e-mail. This helps you a lot since you don’t have to copy the DTCs by hand anymore. No messages are sent automatically, the message field is just pre-filled with diagnostic info and you get to select the recipients and press the send button. You can share the info with your mechanics or friends easily. Below is sample email produced and sent by the app.

Another neat feature is the added support for WiFi adapters. If you have one of those Wi-Fi scantool adapters, you can use OBD Auto Doctor with it now.
The third important addition is the troubleshoot module. The troubleshoot module helps you to resolve connectivity issues. It is also possible to send the logs to us for further analysis. If you have any connection issues, you should try this!
The first version of our OBD-II app for Windows Phones was released about a month ago. Today, I’m happy to provide you more. The first update for the app, version 1.1, is available from the Windows Phone Store now. The update contains some nice additions such as fuel economy and other smaller improvements.
The best part of the update is fuel economy for gas and diesel cars. Most cars don’t report the consumption via OBD as standard parameter. Therefore, the consumption must be calculated from other sensor values. For cars using gas, we base our calculations on MAF air flow rate or intake manifold absolute pressure and intake air temperature. For diesel engines, the fuel economy calculation is based on calculated engine load and MAF air flow rate.
The app contains some new settings related to the fuel economy. First of all, the app detects the used fuel type automatically. However, if the consumption value seems to be totally off, you might want to set it manually. The other parameters you might want to check are:
fuel correction factor: factor that is used to multiply the calculated economy. Change this only if you think the calculated economy should be fine tuned.
volumetric efficiency: For modern cars the VE is about 85%, for older cars it might be little lower such as 75% or 80%. You need to change this only if you know better value than the default.
engine displacement: This is the volume of the engine in liters. Change this to reflect your car!
Another thing we improved in the app is personalization. Now you can select the avatar image from the gallery too. This is in addition to taking new photo with the camera.
This feature was actually one of the user requests we got from the first version. Please keep sending your improvement ideas and feedback to us. We’ll work hard to make this app the best OBD app for Windows Phones.

The app is available for free so that you can make sure it works with your adapter and car. You can read Trouble Codes (confirmed and pending), Freeze Frame and reset MIL with the app. You can also check readiness monitors and monitor various sensor values. And more features will be implemented in future.
The free app contains some limitations, however, that you can unlock by upgrading to the Pro version using in-app purchase. In-app purchase is convenient way to buy the app without need to re-install separate version.
Few words about the sensors. First of all, your car needs to support specific sensor in order it to show up in the selection view. If you car doesn’t support a sensor, it will not be shown in the view. The selected sensors will be read one after another. The update speed of the sensors depends much on the used adapter. The better adapter you have, the faster the values are updated. This also means that the more sensors you have selected, the more time it will take to get specific sensor updated. The sensors are updated at maximum speed in the same order they are visible to you.
Tapping a sensor name in the view will open graphical presentations of the data. See the screenshots above. Please note that the graph view will be opened only for sensors that have numeric value. If the sensor contains non-numeric value, tapping the name won’t do anything.
Upgrade to the Pro
The upgrade to the Pro version can be done inside the app using in-app purchase. The future updates of the app will be free for all existing customers who have upgraded the the Pro version. The purchase is tied to your Windows Phone account. If you change your phone or uninstall the app by accident, you can always get the Pro version back automatically just by installing the free app from the app store. The only thing you have to do is use the same WP account in your phone.
Unfortunately Microsoft doesn’t provide us any means to issue refunds of the purchases so please test the app with you car before upgrading just to make sure there is no compatibility issues.

New version of our car diagnostic software for Windows and Linux is available for download. We recommend that you update your existing installation to this one. The new version contains several improvements and new features compared to the previous version. The following list contains the most important additions.
It’s been a while since the last update of our Symbian and MeeGo OBD-II software versions. Yet we haven’t forgotten you. Quite the opposite, last week we rolled out a new version for these platforms including fuel economy sensor. The version for Nokia N9 was approved last week already. Today we got informed by Nokia that the Symbian update was approved and is ready for download from the Nokia Store. Some of you may have tried the new versions already. We have got some feedback and thanks for keeping it in par with the Android version.
What’s new in 1.6?
Fuel consumption sensor for gasoline and diesel engines
The most interesting feature here is the fuel economy. Fuel economy is not reported by majority of cars. Instead, it has to be calculated using other sensor values. For cars using gasoline, we use air flow rate from mass air flow sensor or intake manifold absolute pressure and intake air temperature plus other needed sensor values. For diesel engines, the fuel economy calculation is based on calculated engine load and air flow rate from mass flow sensor.
There are few new settings related to the fuel consumption calculation that you might want to check:

If you like the app and want all the features unlocked, then you can upgrade the app to the Pro version using in-app purchase. It’s a convenient way offered by Google Play to buy the app without need to install any new apps.
The app will gain more features in upcoming updates. The updates will be free for all existing customers who have upgrade the app using in-app billing. First, we plan to get the app features in par with Symbian version. It means that we’ll add sensor graph to visually present gauge readings. We’ll also add dragstrip timing in near feature. OBD Auto Doctor has been updated once again to bring you new goodies. This is rather small update but it contains some important features that many of you have been requesting. The update is ready for download at Nokia Store!

Improved support for clone scantool interfaces. This includes better support for high end clone adapters as well as improved support for cheap clone interfaces.
It’s finally here! A software update for Symbian devices is here to be downloaded.
First of all, we are extremely sorry for the long delay with the update. Nokia had some massive issues with the approval process and therefore the update was delayed due to reasons that had nothing to do with us. Nokia had given our applications unique identifiers (UIDs) that they had given to some else too. As the name suggests, the UIDs should be unique but in this case they were not. For this reason you need to completely re-install the application.
First, uninstall the current version from you phone.
Secondly, open the store client and install OBD Auto Doctor again.
If you don’t uninstall the old version, you will have two instances on your phone. Due to the UID issue, a regular update won’t work. The same procedure works for both the Lite and the Pro version. You can safely uninstall the paid Pro version and install it again from the Nokia Store. You don’t need to pay for it again. Also if you have previously tried to install OBD Auto Doctor and the installation has failed so any reason, please try again with this updated version. The UID issue is the most likely reason for this installation failure. We are terribly sorry about the manual re-installation process that you need to do. If you have any difficulties with the re-installation, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
This update includes the same improvements as the version for N9. In addition it also contains some important user interface fixes for Nokia Belle users.
The newest version of our OBDII software for mobile has been available for N9 several weeks now. Unfortunately Symbian owners need to still wait. Today, the app has been waiting for approval in Nokia Store QA for one month. We decided to publish this post even though the Symbian version is not available yet. Nokia has some serious issues and can’t even give an estimate when it will approve the update. We will make a new post as soon as the new version is available for Symbian^3, Symbian Anna and Nokia Belle devices too. We are terribly sorry about the delay.
The version 1.4 of the software includes improvements and features such as:
Oscilloscope improvements; now the OBD scope is automatically scaled to proper scale. Previously the scale was fixed and showed the whole scale of the possible parameter values. Another neat feature is the fullscreen scope. To open the fullscreen view, just click the graph of in the Sensor Graph view and the view will become fullscreen.
This version includes initial support for OBDKey scantool adapter. The very early OBDKey 1.1 and 1.2 versions might still not work. We are resolving the issue with the OBDKey manufacturer. However, the currently available OBDKey 1.4 works without any issues. OBDKey is now one of the officially supported adapters for the mobile version.
We also added a feature to help resolving possible connectivity issues that some of you might have. A troubleshoot log is available under Information – Troubleshoot Information. By default the log is turned off to save resources. If you are having issues connecting to your car, just turn the troubleshoot log on from the settings and send the log file to us from the Troubleshoot Information view.
The next version of the software is already cooking. It will contain tools for monitoring fuel economy among other improvements. Feedback is always very welcome, leave yours on the comments.
We are glad to announce that the OBD Auto Doctor for Mobile is now available for new range of devices. The OBDII app is available for all recent Nokia Symbian (Symbian^3, Symbian Anna and Nokia Belle) phones in addition to the Nokia N9.
At the same time, version 1.3 of the software was released. The improved version includes some new features. The main new features are:
Visual view to the sensor values. The sensor graph view is kind of oscilloscope providing a visual view to a sensor value. The graph is superior to numeric info when you are interested in following the changes of a sensor value. The graph shows a 30 second window to value history.
Ability to send diagnostic information, including Confirmed Trouble Codes, Pending Trouble Codes, and Freeze Frame Trouble Code and parameter snapshots via e-mail or SMS. This improves the usability and helps you a lot since you don’t have to copy the DTCs by hand anymore. No messages are sent automatically, the message field is just pre-filled with diagnostic info and you get to select the recipients and press the send button.
Now you are able to choose the used protocol for OBD-II manually. The existing fully automatic selection works for most vehicles but for some cars the manual selection provides better results. If you are not having any troubles with the automatic protocol detection, you should continue to use it. On the other hand, if you are not able to connect to your car, you might want to try the manual selection.

It’s finally here! After waiting for three weeks for approval to Nokia Store the OBD2 software for Nokia Belle is finally available for download and purchase. At the moment the approved Nokia Belle phones are Nokia 500, Nokia 603, Nokia 700, Nokia 701, Nokia C6, Nokia C7, Nokia N8, Nokia Oro, Nokia X7 and Nokia E7. Unfortunately Nokia has some compatibility issues with Nokia Anna and the app store so Nokia Anna owners still have to wait for the software. We are truly sorry about this as we would also like to get the app published for Anna.

The anticipated Live Sensor Data feature has arrived for OBD Auto Doctor for Mobile in version 1.2. Every sensor supported by a car can be selected and monitored in this Sensor Data view. The update frequency depends on the amount of active sensors. The more sensors you select, the slower the update rate becomes. To make the updates more frequent, select only the sensor you really want to monitor at the moment. The sensor readings are available in both metric and imperial units.
Another new and exiting feature is dragstrip timing. With this feature, you can measure the performance of your vehicle. A new and innovative way to start the measurement is auto-sensing. In auto-sensing, the app polls vehicle speed sensor and trigs on movement. The timing can also be started by traditional timing lights. Four red lights will light with fixed period. Then, after some random time, the lights will go off. That is the moment when measurement is started and you should hit the pedal. You should only use the drag strip feature on a close racetrack.
The Sensor Data and Dragstrip features are fully working only in the Pro version. We have also got queries whether the new upcoming features will be free for existing customers. Yes, all future releases will be free as long as you have purchased the app once.
